Lost and Found in Greece

Well, only 3 more days and it is finally hitting me.  I am finally getting nervous about everything and realizing how much I put off to the last minute. I do have one thing done….shopping! Today I finished the last of my shopping.  I even stopped by AAA to get my international driver’s license form.  

But I still have to call and confirm my flights, turn in the form to AAA, finish washing clothes, call my insurance company, possibly make a return flight (depending on what the airlines tell me), and the all important item, PACK. I guess once I type it out, it isn’t that much.  I can get most of it done today and possibly even start to pack.  

Even as I am typing this my stomach is starting to get butterflies, as it often does when I get excited or nervous about something.  In this case it is both.  But I am glad it is finally here.  I have been planning this trip since November and it has been a long time of waiting impatiently. But it’s here! 

I have been making lists of sites to see, places to eat, and things I want to do while in Greece and it just keeps growing.  I can only hope to get to everything on the list. If you have any suggestions of places I definitely need to go, just let me know.  I am always up for suggestions, especially by anyone who has been there.  

Well, this is it.  I’m in the final stretch.  It is going to be hectic from here.

My date is finally set! I have booked my ticket! And the realness has started! 

Yesterday, I booked my ticket! I will be leaving home on Friday, January 13th and arriving in Athens on Saturday. 

Growing up whenever I got really nervous and/or excited about something, my stomach actually would hurt and I’d feel sick. The feeling would eventually subside, when said event was over  Well, as much as I would have loved to have grown out of it, I haven’t.  So, yesterday, while sitting at the computer booking my ticket, my stomach started feeling funny. I was getting so nervous about actually booking the ticket. But it’s done and I am so relieved things have finally come together.  

So I have about a month to enjoy the holidays, see family and friends, pack, decide what I want with me for the next year, and to be inpatient.

So, my trip was put off by about a month because of visa problems.  Honestly, after trying to get a visa you would think that the embassy doesn’t want you to come to Greece.  But my amazing host mom Debbie has worked things out for me.  So, the second week of January, I will be on my way to a year of Greece!

Even with my trip delayed a bit, I have been trying to buy some things for my trip. Also, I have been organizing things in my closet based on what I think I want to take with me.  I will go ahead and confess that I am not very good at packing.  I usually wait till the night before, even on my year long trip to the West Coast for AmeriCorps. I also end up taking things I never use.  So, I am trying really hard to look at what I use the most now and make sure that is what gets packed. 

I have sent Debbie 2 choices in flight dates and hopefully in the next few days we will decide on a day and I’ll book my flight! Update soon.
